DRY NEEDLING FAQS

IS IT THE SAME AS ACUPUNCTURE?

No, acupuncture is based on meridians, while dry needling targets trigger points. However, the needles that are used are similar.

DOES DRY NEEDLING HURT?

You will feel a slight ‘prick’ as the needle is inserted then may feel a brief twitch or mild spasm sensation when the needle hits a trigger point. This response is usually quick and followed by a feeling of release. Some people may experience mild post-treatment soreness for 24–48 hours, similar to what you’d feel after a workout. Your osteopath will explain what to expect and ensure you feel comfortable at all times.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Temporary side effects include bruising, muscle soreness and occasionally small amounts of bleeding.
